- Bibsy Senharjo was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on 22nd November 1928 to Haji Agus Salim and Zainatun Nahar nee Almatsier.
- Her father was one of the founding fathers of the Repubic of Indonesia.
- Bibsy and her siblings were home-schooled and each was encouraged to pursue their own interests.
- She had a particular fondness for literature and after returning home from a four-year stay in Japan, she began writing- first prose in 1957, and then poetry in the sixties.
- Her early introduction to poets in her father's library-amongst them are Edgar Allan Poe, Matthew Arnold, W.B. Yeats and Vachel Lindsay- would forever hold her fascination and make them her lifelong favourites.
- In 1998, on her 70th birthday, her sons and friends published a compilation of some of her poems.
- Bibsy Soenharjo now lives in Jakarta with youngest son of three, Haryo who are married with three children.
